Mud Island Marathon

Still air and glassy seas are not what you want for a yacht race, but they are the conditions we were met with for the annual Mud Island Marathon yacht race last Sunday morning. When the horn sounded, the only movement was tidal drift, but luckily as the morning went on, the wind picked up and we were able to fill the sails.

The annual race is a memorial to local personality, Tony Caulfield, and the course is across Moreton Bay, from Scarborough to Mud Island and back, via the Brisbane Roads. I was the part of the S/V Ripple crew.
