Sawasdee Similan Island!

Thailand is a tourist mecca. 36 million tourists visited in 2017! More than Australia’s population! So it’s not surprising that some of Thailand’s favourite spots are literally “standing room only”. It’s hard to beat the crowds.

In the Similan Islands (nine little islands poking up out of the Andaman Sea), an armada of speed boats delivers thousands of tourists every day. A simple hike up to the viewpoint basically turned into a hilly queue. We couldn’t get the quintessential selfie at sail rock due to the horde of people jammed onto the rock with us, but the sun was starting to set, casting the coolest shadows…
